A local charity featured on a new stamp released today is hoping it will help boost its profile.
The Royal Mail stamp depicts a long-serving pony and a young rider from Epsom Riding for the Disabled Association (ERDA).
The stamp shows a young female rider, who attends Greenmead School in Wandsworth, gazing at a pony called Thor.
Stella Milne, chairman of ERDA, said: "They have managed to capture the bond that exists between rider and horse - and of course the fact that it’s one of our riders with one of our longest serving ponies is particularly special."
The charity's chief executive, Ed Bracher, said: "We were delighted when Royal Mail approached us about this project.
"Portraying the work of our horses and ponies as part of this series is a fitting acknowledgement of the loyal service they deliver and the vital therapy they provide to our riders and drivers."
The charity gives disabled people the opportunity to ride to benefit their health and well-being.
It provides over 3,000 riding lessons for 350 disabled adults and children. It has over 200 volunteers and is entirely funded by donations and its fundraising efforts.
Back in 2009 the charity won a £10,000 grant from the charitable arm of this newspaper, the Gannett Foundation to buy a hydraulic mounting ramp to help wheelchair users and other disabled riders to mount their horses.
