Parking controls will be in force across Southfields from Monday when the Wimbledon tennis championships start.

From 8.30am to 8.30pm until Sunday, July 6, there will be parking controls to protect residents from an influx of cars.

The tournament is always popular with celebs

Pay and display machines throughout the area, apart from those serving the shops in Replingham Road, will be switched off to ensure tennis fans do not occupy residents’ parking spaces.

Existing parking zones will form one single tennis ‘event zone’ and those who have existing permits will be entitled to still park there as well as being issued with two temporary visitor’s permits.

Wandsworth Council have issued strict instructions that the visitor permits are their property and are not for resale. Anyone cause trying to sell the permits will face legal action.

Some parking bays along Wimbledon Park Road, Augustus Road, Victoria Drive, Bathgate Road, Queensmere Road and Princes Way will be suspended for the duration of the tournament.

Parking bays and yellow lines in Revelstoke Road between Wimbledon Park and the junction with Heythorp Street will be in operation continuously throughout the tournament.

Any vehicle parked incorrectly over the Wimbledon tennis fortnight is liable to receive a parking ticket and may be towed away.
