A 22-year-old man has been jailed for four weeks after brandishing a large kitchen knife in McDonald’s.

In the early hours of Saturday, July 12, Christopher Stephen Leech had an 8in kitchen knife in McDonald’s in St John’s Road, Clapham Junction.

Police described him as “a bit worse for wear” following a drink or two. Leech, of Whitlock Drive, Southfields, was initially reluctant to hand over his chef’s tool but officers soon arrested him.

At the police station, while in custody, Leech threw a telephone at police officers.

He pleaded guilty to possession of a blade and was committed to four weeks in prison at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Monday, July 14.
