Fascinating characters of Elmbridge's past revealed
6:00am Wednesday 31st October 2012 in Freetime By Guardian Reporter
Kings, strippers, freed slaves and filmmakers all share the stage when Joanna Tapp explores the colourful history of Elmbridge.
Her talk at Mole Hall, West Molesey will reveal much of the passion and genius, lust and infamy seen in the borough over the years.
Councillor Jan Fuller, member for culture, said: “This lecture will include tales of Tudor royalty, but will also remember less prominent but nonetheless important figures of our local history.
“Joanna will draw from her experience of looking after the Elmbridge Museum collections to open an expert and intimate window on to the borough’s history. This is an evening not to be missed.”
The Passionate People of Elmbridge Past and Present, part of the Royston Pike lecture series, at 8pm on Friday, November 16, at the hall in Bishop Fox Way.
Tickets cost £1.90 a person and are available at the door.
Visit elmbridge.gov.uk/culture for more on the lectures.
