A hip hop dance crew has managed to snap up this week’s Brightest Spotlight of the Week gong for Kingston Spotlight.

Vital Signz won the borough’s busking talent contest after performing four energetic dance medleys over the weekend.

The dance troupe is made up of adults and about 20 children aged three and up who live in Kingston.

Chorographer and owner of the group Carly Allen said: “It’s fantastic news that we have won. Everyone has worked really hard and it was cold on the day.

“The kids will be ecstatic when they find out and so will their parents. They have done so well.”

The group performed a hip hop medley by artist Missy Elliot and the children also wowed Kingston shoppers with a routine about school life including dancing in the hallways, in the canteen and during break times.

A whole new line-up will be entertaining shoppers on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday this week.

Shoppers and residents are urged to get behind their favourite acts by voting for them to become the Brightest Spotlight of the Week.

To support your favourite act, text 60777 at your standard network charge with the code of the act you like the most from Wednesday until midnight on Monday when voting ends.
