Two-man concert of three halves comes to Epsom Playhouse

A pair of acclaimed international solo singers will be joining forces in a two-man concert of three halves.

Award-winning West End stars Ben Lake, who comes from Ewell, and Jason Jay will be bringing an evening of musical entertainment to Epsom for the first time. 

Singing music ranging from opera, swing, ballads and the musicals, and backed by a five-piece band, the Playhouse says audiences will be blown away by "Lake’s operatic power-house voice and Jay’s cool and sophisticated Michael Buble-esque voice".

The long-term friends will take it in turn to perform individually, with the show culminating in a sing-off of "mega proportions" when the pair will sing together.

Lake, who appeared on BBC talent show The Voice last year, was originally an opera singer before getting his big break on another television talent show - Michael Barrymore’s My Kind of Music.  In 2002, he starred as God in the controversial Jerry Springer: The Opera, and has also starred in Phantom of the Opera in the West End.

Jay started off performing in jazz clubs along the south coast.  He has performed with the legendary Cleo Lane and recently sung as a warm-up act for Harry Connick Jr in Switzerland.  He has also toured with major musical productions, including Oliver! in the UK and Canada.
