Winter Wander next weekend
Residents are being encouraged to shake off the winter blues with a brisk and picturesque walk through Nonsuch Park.
Next weekend, (January 26) sees 30 free guided walks known as the Winter Wanders taking place around London. Transport for London (TfL) is encouraging people to discover the hidden gems of the capital.
Lilli Matson, TfL head of delivery planning, surface transport, said: "Winter Wanders is also a perfect to time to make new friends and learn how easy it is to walk around our great city.
Walking is free, reliable, and offers a positive impact towards people’s health, and TfL is making many improvements to help make London a city that is easier and more pleasurable to enjoy on foot."
The first section of the walk, beginning at Banstead Station, passes a number of points of interest including Warren Farm, Nonsuch Park and the Bourne Hall Park, before taking in the scenery inspired Pre-Raphaelite painters, overhanging willows and the gentle curve of the River Hogsmill.
Walkers should meet at 10.30 outside Banstead station, with the walk finishing at Kingston Berryland Station.
The Winter Wanders weekend is organised by Walk England and funded by TfL.
