Travel back to the 1920s and 30s with Richmond's Radio Days
8:00am Friday 22nd February 2013 in Freetime By Amy Dyduch
Radio Days: Both musical and educational
Audiences can travel in time to enjoy a night in the roaring 20s and glamorous 30s.
Richmond’s Radio Days is both a vintage music band and an educational project that offers performances and a learning experience about the interwar period.
Performances of songs from some of the great orchestras and bands from the 1920s and 1930s are accompanied by heritage guru Dr Chris Hutchison, who explores music, anecdotes, old photographs and memorabilia.
Older members of the community are invited to recount memories and tell their own stories for the night of nostalgia, while younger people are entertained and educated.
The five professional musicians from the UK, Spain and Nigeria provide music from around the world and aim to bring to life the elegance and glamour of the jazz age as well as the social history of the interwar years.
Radio Days Time Machine, at the Tea Box, Paradise Road, Richmond, on Saturday, February 23 at 7.30pm. Tickets £5. Phone 020 8940 3521 or visit radiodays.eu.
