He's headlined music festivals and been all over the radio with his band Starsailor, but singer James Walsh will be all on his own at The Bedford next Thursday.
The 29-year-old will be headlining the Shuga Buddha night with a stripped down acoustic set instead of the usual full band set up he has with the rest of the guys, James Stelfox, Ben Byrne and Barry Westhead from the band that first hit the headlines in 2001.
If you are a big Starsailor fan don't panic and think the band are splitting just because James is doing some live shows, far from it in fact, having released a new album this year and completing a European tour.
Shuga Buddha is a monthly night at The Bedford launched earlier this year and supporting James at next week's show will be Neil Thomas and Cheam-based pop artist Jamie Abbott.
The night actually brings an end to three straight days of live music at the venue.
On Tuesday, four lads from Leamington who make up pop band Fix Monday will entertain with elaborate vocal harmonies and have been known to step off stage and into the audience to sing unplugged, anchored only by a single guitar.
On Wednesday, Jamie Lawson, Andy Chandler, Sherika Sherard, Holly Rubenstein, Daniel Ward-Murphy and Keeny Bogan will all be performing.
South Londoner Sherard is just 18 but has been writing and performing for more than four years and was crowned London's best solo act by the Live and Unsigned competition.
Rubenstein, dubbed 2009's answer to Carole King, has collaborated with Grammy-winning producer Kipper on her four latest tracks and, like Sherard, has been writing since her mid-teens.
Until The Morning Light is the debut album release from Ward-Murphy that came out early this year and was actually funded by his fans who raised the money for him to enter the studio such was their love of his music.
James Walsh, The Bedford, Bedford Hill, Balham, October 22, 7.30pm, £5. Call 0208 682 8940 or visit thebedford.co.uk.
