Forget family-orientated bhangra singing and dancing -a new Bollywood film coming to Croydon and Wandsworth cinemas promises high-octane thrills, sex, drugs and scandal in the beautiful resort of Goa.

But don’t think this film is at all low-brow. Dum Maaro Dum features some of India’s most reputable film stars, Bipasha Basu and Abhishek Bachchan, as well as rising stars Prateik Babbar and Rana Daggubati.

Dum Maaro Dum tells the story of six characters whose lives change forever when they become embroiled in the shady and perilous world of the region’s drugs mafia.

Acclaimed beauty and leading lady Basu plays Zoe – a bright young woman who falls foul of Goa’s sinister underbelly. While Bachchan portrays ACP Vishnu Kamath, a cop on a relentless mission to bring Goa’s drugs barons to justice. We hurtle into the bylanes, beach shacks and raves of Goa with Lorry (Babbar) as his life spirals out of control and Joki (Daggubati), a DJ who tries to redeem his past.

Dum Maaro Dum takes you on a dramatic, thrilling trip filled with twists, turns, and suspense... and promises a shocking finale.

Directed by Rohan Sippy (Bluffmaster, Kuch Naa Kaho) and produced by Ramesh Sippy, who brought audiences Indian classic Sholay, Dum Maaro Dum features a stand-out soundtrack that moves from haunting Konkani songs to pulsating dance music by maverick composer Pritam.

Starlet Deepika Padukone features in the film’s title track which is already creating waves in the Indian music scene. Bold and explosive, the song is a contemporary remix version of the iconic classic track (originally performed by Zeenat Aman in pioneering 70s film Hare Rama Hare Krishna) and is choreographed by Bosco and Cesar.

Dum Maaro Dum is on at Croydon Vue, Croydon Grant’s Vue, and Wandsworth Cineworld from April 22 .
