A Buddy Holly tribute act will be rocking and rolling into the borough this week, writes Sophia Sleigh.
Fans will get an evening of Buddy’s greatest hits and other legends from the 50s and 60s including Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry and the Beatles.
Buddy Holly and the Cricketers promise to have your heart beating a little faster with their performance.
The group has been performing for 20 years delighting audiences across the globe from Cardiff to California.
Members of the group have featured in West End credits such as Buddy, Lennon, Return to the Forbidden Planet, Jailhouse Rock and Sunday in the park with George.
Dean Elliot who played Buddy Holly in the musical for four years, takes the lead in this show.
He says: "The main thing about this show is it’s incredibly feel good.
"You go to the theatre for different things and we get the audience up dancing.
"We are quite interactive but not pantomime. I’ve met some of the audience afterwards and they are always beaming.
"You don’t have to be a fan of Buddy Holly to enjoy it.
"On stage there are five of us and everyone on stage is not just talented musician but talented singers too.
"We have fun on stage, we take the mick out of each other in front of the audience.
He said everyone is welcome to the come along and it is great when they see young people as it means the music is timeless.
Elliot took some time out of rehearsals to meet the teenage rock band - the Tones at Epsom’s Realistic Rock Academy on Monday, May 14.
The youngsters from Epsom have recently been selected to play at this year’s Elderflower Fields Festival and were keen to meet Elliot to pick up some tips.
Elliot says: "It was really lovely. They are very talented. They are 13- it’s quite amazing really.
"It was fun - the only regret I have is that I didn’t have time to jam with them."
