Adam Ant in Croydon

Tickets are still available as one of the 1980s most iconic artists is preparing to stand and deliver.

The flamboyant Adam Ant has revitalised his career, playing venues across the UK since 2010, and is now heading to the Fairfield Halls.

As lead singer of Adam and the Ants, he recorded 10 top 10 singles between 1980 and 1983, and tracks such as Prince Charming and Friend or Foe have stood the test of time.

Branching out into the world of performance during the 1990s, Ant then disappeared off the radar for 12 years before he played an acoustic show as part of the launch of a biography in 2006.

The book laid bare Ant’s childhood, career path and his well-documented public mental health battles with frank accounts of the struggles he endured.

This rekindled recognition resulted in a series of low key, spontaneous “guerrilla gigs” around London in early 2010, which enabled Ant to build up a new band to sell out several shows at the Scala in Kings Cross.

Ant hasn’t looked back, touring almost non-stop.

Adam Ant, Fairfield Halls, Croydon, September 6, 7.30pm. Tickets £28.50. Call 020 8688 9291 for more.
