Vocality Singing is opening up a new community choir in Walton.

The Elmbridge business is thriving off a recent surge in public enthusiasm for community singing, and has already established popular choirs in Claygate and Surbiton.

The unconventional choirs sing an eclectic mix of songs from a number of countries, and welcome both men and women, beginners and more experienced singers.

Vocality Singing was set up was set up by Claygate resident Catherine Dyson in 2007.

She says: “Vocality choirs have proved popular because our young and talented choir leaders make rehearsals fun and because we sing an unusual repertoire of unaccompanied harmony songs from around the world.

“Also, we learn everything by ear so people don’t need to be able to read music to join in, the choirs aren’t too large and we attract a really interesting cross section of people.”

Vocality Walton will meet Thursday evenings between 8pm and 10pm, from September 13 at St Andrew’s URC Hall, Hersham Road.

Free taster sessions are offered. Further details can be found at vocalitysinging.co.uk.
