The Wine Reserve has been awarded the title of Regional Wine Merchant of the Year for south and south-east England at the International Wine Challenge’s (IWC) 29th annual competition.
Each year thousands of wines are judged at the self-proclaimed world’s finest and most meticulously judged wine competition.
Charles Metcalfe chairman of the IWC said: “The IWC’s aim is to recognise excellence and help wine drinkers everywhere source some of the world’s best wines.
“The credibility of the IWC logo is testament to the competition’s unrivalled professionalism and meticulous judging processes.”
The family-owned Wine Reserve in Cobham High Street is recognised as one of the best wine merchants in the UK after undergoing a rigorous judging process, in which wines were tasted blind on at least three different occasions by nine judges. Wine is assessed on faithfulness to style, region, and vintage.
Other competitors included supermarkets, agents, on-trade suppliers, mail order, online, independent and high street retailers.
The Wine Reserve offers wine tasting on 48 different wines during hours of operation.
