Fed up money woes? Think on during philosophy festival

Are you fed up of money woes, frequent fears about imminent economic collapse and the constant pursuit of more material possessions? writes Clare Buchanan.

Why not take a sideways look at the whole rat race with a series of debates and talks during October bringing together some of Kingston’s greatest minds.

Think in Kingston philosophy festival touches on politics, history, religion and ethics.

Highlights in the first week include an evening asking whether cooperatives are the future (Monday, October 1, 6.30pm at Kingston University) and a debate on money, metaphysics and morality (Tuesday, October 2, 6pm, Bridges cafe, Thames Street).

Mark Hoskin will discuss the ethics of investment on Wednesday at 7pm at the Penrhyn Road Kingston University Campus.

Diana Coyle, vice-chair of the BBC will discuss The Economics of Enough, creating a future without sacrificing the planet, on Friday, October 5 at 6pm at Kingston University.

Other talks include Kingston Peace Council/CND on cuts and ‘What Jesus thinks about money’ at St Paul’s Church.
