Do you always stick to the same bottle when buying wine or do you wish you knew more? Then a new wine school that has launched in Epsom could help you out.

Deborah Zbinden has Wine Confidence, a monthly evening class at Ewell Court House, which will cover a different topic each week with the minimum of jargon.

Zbinden has more than 15 years’ experience in the wine industry and has held management roles at the likes of Hardys, Wolf Blass and Lindemans as well as working on smaller boutique and emerging brands around the world.

Her classes run from 7.45pm to 9.30pm on the last Wednesday of every month and topics include introduction to food and wine pairings and aromatic whites or spicy reds.

She said: “So many regular wine drinkers are spending well above the average price of a bottle wine in the UK yet are convinced they don’t know much about wine.

“There can be a tendency to panic and throw money at the problem or just buy the same thing every time. Wine shouldn’t be an unknown when people spend so much of their hard earned money on it.

“There’s so much choice out there for people to enjoy and I hope that Wine Confidence’s courses and tastings will help people to feel braver about experimenting with different grapes and styles.”
