When good food, great beer and top music all come together, the result is bound to be memorable.

That is the view of Paul Long, keyboard player and lead vocalist of the Riotous Brothers, who will play at the Richmond Food and Beer (Fab) Festival this summer.

The singer says: “Live music, food and beer – what’s not to like?

“I think it’s a great idea to have all these things to attract people to an event.

“It gives the festival a few good angles.”

The band, who have just released their third album, The Tree, will play on the Crawdaddy stage twice on the Sunday of the festival.

The exciting line-up of established rhythm and blues and up-and-coming artists was compiled by the Crawdaddy Club’s promoter, Mike Rivers, who will welcome the band to the club on June 13.

What is unique about the band is it has two lead vocalists - Paul and Mash Sonnet, who is also on guitar and harmonica.

Mat Lake on bass and Dirk Maggs on drums complete the line-up.

Mash says: “Our material is blues based, but takes off on its own tangents and has influences from all parts of the blues tree, from the roots to the main trunk to our outer branch - hence the album title.”

The festival will see more than 100 real ales, ciders and perries on offer and beer-lovers will get the chance to sample the latest craft brews, world beers and meet the brewers.

Paul says: “I’m perhaps the main ale fan in the band, although we all do our bit.

“I like to support my local brewery and drink Harvey’s Sussex Bitter. Being a Devonian I’m also partial to a cider or perry.”

Top chefs will demonstrate their signature dishes at the festival and guests can sample and buy a range of artisan foods against the backdrop of a stellar line-up of musical talent from the Crawdaddy Club.

Full English breakfast lover Mash says: “There’ll be lots of energy. We’ll give the audience a great time with some emotional turns along the way.”
