The genius of pioneering singer Mark Murphy will be celebrated in a special concert this weekend.
Performing at in the recently created jazz room at the Bull’s Head, Barnes, a selection of tunes of the jazz singers tunes will be performed by vocalist Peter Jones.
Jones will be supported by Toby Orsen-Nowell on trumpet and tenor saxophone, Jonathan Whines on alto saxophone and flute, Steve Ashworth on piano, Shura Greenberg of double bass and Dan Allsopp on drums.
Now 82-years-old, Murphy is known to many for his bebop and beatnik style, with his extravagance, fearlessness and verbal dexterity highly influential to many.
The show will feature a selection of tunes performed by Murphy over the course of his long career, with jazz singer and lyricist Jones taking centre stage.
