Welsh classical singer Rhydian has come a long way since he finished second on the X Factor in 2007.

While fellow contestants on the show have faded away – even winner Leon Jackson is a hazy memory for most – he’s gone on to be nominated for a Classical Brit and has two platinum albums, sold a million records worldwide and starred in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Jesus Christ Superstar.

His fifth effort, the number one classical crossover One Day Like This is out now and he’s supporting it with a tour which includes Ashcroft Theatre in Croydon’s Fairfield Halls on September 24.

Joining him on the tour his Lucy Kay, who finished second on last year’s Britain’s Got Talent and has already notched up a number one classical album of her own, Fantasia.

Rhydian said: “This autumn sees the culmination of my One Day Like this tour after a year on the road. It's been amazing but I've saved the best until now.

“I'm so delighted that Lucy Kay will be supporting me. What an awesome talent she is.

“You'll also hear us duet together for the first time ever. What's more, in addition to hearing songs from my number one album, you will hear exclusive performances from my brand new album that is being release later in the year.”
