Star Wars: The Force Awakens clearly has the power of the force after beating Fifty Shades Of Grey to be named the most anticipated film of 2015.
In a poll conducted by Cineworld cinemas, more movie-goers were looking forward to seeing JJ Abrams’ new intergalactic instalment, until recently known only as Star Wars Episode VII, than watching Jamie Dornan whip Christian Grey into life on the big screen.
The film adaptation of EL James’ best-selling erotic novel about a billionaire with a penchant for S&M is due to open in cinemas in time for Valentine’s Day on February 13, 2015.
Star Wars Episode VII won’t be released until December next year.
The third most anticipated movie of 2015, in the survey of 2,000 cinema-goers, was Marvel sequel Avengers: Age Of Ultron.
The film – starring Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth and Aaron Taylor-Johnson – is due out in May next year.
Liam Neeson’s third outing as a retired secret agent with a “particular set of skills” in Taken 3, which is due out on January 3, 2015, was fifth on the list, behind The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, which is not released until November.
Taken 3 proved more popular than 007, with Bond 24 in eighth place, just ahead of Tom Cruise’s fifth turn as super spy Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible 5.
Also on the list of 2015′s most awaited films were reboots Terminator: Genisys and Jurassic World, as well as Ted 2.
Oscar winner 12 Years A Slave was voted the best film of 2014 in the survey, conducted in conjunction with Cineworld’s Winter Unmissables.
