We may demand CGI-enhanced 3D experience from our Hollywood blockbusters, but our love for enchanting classics from the 20th Century still holds strong.
Which is why Coys, who specialise in selling classic cars, are holding their biggest ever poster and entertainment memorabilia sale at the Royal Horticultural Society in London December 2.
Featuring iconic posters including Casablanca, King Kong, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Get Carter and James Bond, the firm are hoping buyers will see these classic movie posters as important investment potential.
Here are a few to take you back to a technicolour era when beautiful Audrey Hepburn and handsome Humphrey Bogart ruled the silver screen.
1. King Kong French Grande from 1933
Estimated value: £20,000-£25,000.
2. US window card poster of Casablanca from 1942
Estimated value: £7,000-£10,000.
3. The Phantom of the Opera Italian door panel from 1943
Estimated value: £3,500-£4,500.
4. Dr. No UK Quad poster from 1962
Estimated value: £8,000-£10,000.
5. Breakfast at Tiffany’s poster from 1962
Estimated value: £1,500-£2,000.
6. Goldfinger UK Quad poster from 1964
Estimated value: £3,000-£4,000.
7. Steve McQueen’s Le Mans from 1971
Estimated value: £300-£1,600.
