The Fast And Furious franchise is set to continue despite the tragic death of Paul Walker, movie bosses have said.

Paul, 40, died midway through filming of the latest instalment Fast And Furious 7 in November last year in a car crash in California.

The franchise – which also stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris – has been going for 13 years, and it has been expected the latest instalment, due out in April 2015, would be the last.

But Universal Pictures chairwoman Donna Langley told The Hollywood Reporter: “We think there’s at least three more. Paul is, and always will be, an integral part of the story. But there are many other great characters, and it’s also an opportunity to introduce new characters. I think it’s still a growing franchise.”

She added: “We’ll see what happens with Furious 7, obviously, but our box office has grown over the past three or four films and internationally, in particular. So we think that there’s more to mine there. But we’re of course very mindful about fatigue.”

Paul’s brothers Claeb and Cody helped complete his scenes in Fast And Furious 7 and the film has been dedicated to his memory.

Meanwhile, his father Paul Walker Sr, has revealed in an interview with MailOnline that Paul was considering quitting the movie business altogether after completing Fast and Furious , to spend more time with his 15-year-old daughter Meadow.

His father said: “Paul was planning on taking a break from starring in movies, and stepping away from Hollywood, to spend more time with Meadow. He was so proud of her, she is incredibly intelligent and beautiful, and Paul wanted to be there for her as she grew up.

“In fact, he would’ve swapped his Hollywood fame for the quiet life with Meadow. Paul wasn’t big on fame and preferred to live modestly.

“But he signed on for the Agent 47 movie about a hit man, and it was already agreed that if it was successful there would be three further movies made. That was something he confessed to me he wished he hadn’t done because he wanted to be with Meadow.”
