This year’s jungle alumni have nearly made it to the end of their time in camp, with the winner set to be crowned tonight.

Usually by this point, there’s an obvious champion looming, but thanks to a few twists and turns over the last three weeks we could be looking at a big surprise as King or Queen of the Jungle.

As we look forward to the final, we cast our minds back over some of the most memorable moments from the last three weeks in camp.

Early Exits

Gemma Collins
(ITV)

We were shocked to see a couple of early exits this year – first to walk was Gemma Collins who, after insisting she had malaria after describing the contents of her toilet bowl as “neon”, decided the pull of a ham sandwich with Quavers on the side was just too much. Gemma claimed her three days in the jungle had changed her, but Michael Buerk expressed doubts about how much difference it had really made.

Of course, sadly, Craig Charles also had to leave not long after Gemma when he was told the tragic news that his brother had passed away unexpectedly.

BFFs

Tinchy Stryder
(ITV)

I’m A Celebrity always throws up some super-close friendships thanks to all that time spent together, and often they’re pretty unlikely.

This year’s unexpected best buds were rapper Tinchy Stryder and ex news reporter Michael Buerk, who hit it off from the word go and remained thick as thieves.

Also rarely seen apart were Jimmy Bullard and Carl “Foggy” Fogarty, whose friendship was immortalised with the name Joggy.

Camp Challengers

Kendra Wilkinson
(ITV)

There’s always one camper who gets picked by the voters to take on more than their fair share of bushtucker trials, and this year’s unlucky victim was Kendra Wilkinson. Despite a strong early showing in a particularly disgusting eating trial, Kendra went on to be terrified by a whole array of jungle creatures until she was almost at breaking point.

Meanwhile, late entrant Jake Quickenden became the hero of the hour during the live challenge, managing to collect every star despite the pressure.

Jimmy Bullard’s Game of Two Halves

Jimmy Bullard
(ITV)

We’ve never seen anyone fall from grace quite so spectacularly as poor Jimmy.

Having started out as a bit of a tough nut at the trials, lots of fun and generally the favourite to win, the silver fox ended up being voted out first.

Jimmy’s turn around in fortunes saw two major switch points. During a trial to win immunity from the public vote, everyone, even some of the more wimpy campers, managed to stay in their tombs full of critters – except for Jimmy, who ran screaming and wimpering from his.

Add to that his rather uncomfortable “banter” with Jake, which many interpreted as bullying when he repeatedly asked what the former X Factor contestant’s talent was to justify being in the jungle, and his fate was sealed.

Jake Quickenden’s Clothes Never Arrived

Jake Quickenden
(ITV)

All campmates are supposed to be issued with a regulation jungle wardrobe upon entering the show, but we can only assume that Jake’s got lost in the post.

Jimmy may not have been the only one questioning whether a dubious run on X Factor qualified Jake as a celebrity, but he certainly managed to deflect attention by going shirtless almost 24/7, showing off his toned muscles and many tattoos.

Jake also made the most of his time in camp by flirting shamelessly with Nadia Forde, Kendra, Melanie Sykes, Edwina Currie… Well, pretty much everyone.

Edwina Currie, Jungle Temptress

Edwina Currie
(ITV)

If she wasn’t talking about her temptress ways in the outside world, Edwina was tempting an argument.

The former politician locked horns with Kendra and Melanie over whether or not a man was needed to do one particular task well, and had another furious argument with Kendra when the US star suggested you shouldn’t live your life to please other people.

On the other side of the coin, Edwina has given us more information than we might have wanted to know about her past one-night stands, lapped up the attention from Jake, and even branded herself a cougar.

Michael Buerk’s A Chirpy Bird

Michael Buerk
(ITV)

Michael won over viewers and campmates with his game-for-anything attitude and we’re surprised he didn’t manage to make it to the final.

One of his best moments was dressing as a giant, brightly-feathered bird and edging his way along a high line while calling out bird noises to Vicky Michelle for a Dingo Dollar Challenge.

But the jungle moment that’ll really stick in our minds is Michael performing his rap about the other campmates as the star turn in a rap trio that included Tinchy and Jake – he didn’t miss a beat and didn’t even look embarrassed.
