EastEnders star Maddy Hill has said she often goes around unnoticed.

The actress, who plays Nancy Carter in the BBC soap, revealed once she’s out of the tracksuit, fans can barely recognise her.

“Actually, I don’t have the downside of fame. My character look is so specific and as soon as I don’t look like that, I am completely invisible so I can hide,” said Maddy, who was a winner at the National Television Awards. “If I’ve got my hair down and my hat on, I’m absolutely fine.”

She added that she enjoys dressing down for work and glamming up for ceremonies such as the National Television Awards, where she won best newcomer.

“It’s nice to have that comparison – to be really comfortable at work and then, I could stick anything on for here and people would be like, ‘You’re wearing a dress’. I’d say it’s great. I like it,” she said.

Maddy, who beat Hollyoaks’ Cameron Moore, Emmerdale actor Michael Parr and Casualty’s Lee Mead for the prize, said her life is different since she joined the show in January 2014.

“(My life) has changed very drastically. I’m a lot busier but I absolutely love it, and I don’t see the downsides,” she said.

But she admitted that people only want to know one thing when they meet her.

“People always want to know what Danny Dyer’s like in real life,” she said. “He’s ridiculous. He’s a preposterous human being. I love him.”
