Last Tango In Halifax fans can breathe a sigh of relief – the show will be back for another series.

Anne Reid and Sir Derek Jacobi star in the BBC Sunday night drama as old flames who have rekindled their romance in later life. But the show, written by Sally Wainwright has become just as much about their children, played by Nicola Walker and Sarah Lancashire, and grandchildren.

Over six million viewers tuned in to watch the series three finale on Sunday night, and afterwards BBC One tweeted some reassuring news.

The last instalment saw Nicola Walker, who plays Derek Jacobi’s on-screen daughter Gillian, preparing to marry policeman Robbie (Dean Andrews), her late husband’s brother.

Few details are known about the fourth series but it is expected to follow the previous model and air some time towards the end of 2015.
