Mumford & Sons have played almost their entire new album at a tiny London gig.

The group told fans about the show at Oslo in Hackney, London on Sunday night and performed on Monday evening, where they shared much of their upcoming third album which will be called Wilder Mind.

During the 11-song set, the group were joined on stage by Noah And The Whale violinist Tom Hobden and session musician Chris Maas on drums, according to NME.

Marcus Mumford told the crowd: “We decided pretty last minute to come play these songs live, so you’re guinea pigs basically, pretty lovely looking guinea pigs, but guinea pigs. If this goes well, we’re going to do this other places, probably.”

Someone in the crowd shouted out: “What’s happening with the banjos?” as the group had previously said that the new album does not feature the instruments they have become known for.

Marcus replied: “That’s a good question. That’s a fair question. We don’t really know. We’ll get back to you on that one.”

Gig goers had to check in their mobile phones at the door before entering and keyboard player Ben Lovett explained: “It’s so nice playing a show without everyone on their mobile phones. We just wanted to have an intimate moment where people weren’t checking the latest feed. We just wanted to have a moment where we could see everybody’s faces.”
