John Malkovich is to join Mark Wahlberg in disaster drama Deepwater Horizon.
The Red star has been cast as a stubborn BP representative in the real-life tale, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The film, to be directed by Lone Survivor and Battleship filmmaker Peter Berg, tells the story of the infamous British Petroleum oil rig that exploded and caught on fire on April 20, 2010, while drilling in the Gulf of Mexico.
Eleven crew members were killed, and it became the largest offshore oil spill in US history.
Mark will star as an electrician on the rig, with Kurt Russell, The Maze Runner’s Dylan O’Brien and Jane The Virgin actress Gina Rodriguez in supporting roles.
John, 61, was last heard as the voice of villainous Dr Octavius Brine in DreamWorks’ Penguins Of Madagascar alongside Benedict Cumberbatch.
He will next star in drama Dominion alongside Rhys Ifans, thriller Unlocked with Michael Douglas and Noomi Rapace, and Demolition opposite Jake Gyllenhaal and Naomi Watts.
