James Corden has continued his Late Late Show guest collaborations with the most impressive yet – rapping his opening monologue with the help of Mark Ronson.

The Brit host of the US talk show has sung along with Mariah Carey and Jennifer Hudson since he took over the programme in March, and has now shown that his performing skills extend to rapping, too.

As he opened the show, Into The Woods star James introduced Mark Ronson as one of his guests, who had a recent hit with Bruno Mars on Uptown Funk and is known for his work with stars including Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen.

Mark, who was filmed backstage in his dressing room, said: “I saw you on the show the other night with Josh Gad. I don’t think you should be doing Frozen monologues, man, you’re from the streets… you’re forgetting where you’re from, man.”

The producer then made his way up to join James on stage, taking up a place behind some decks while James gave an amateurish attempt at rapping his opening jokes.

But the joke was on the audience, as when he had warmed up, James launched into a polished rap about the show to cheers and clapping.

During his interview later on the show, Mark admitted that his first scheduled meeting with Stevie Wonder who guests on his new album Uptown Special had taken a wrong turn.

He explained that he had been due to meet the singer backstage in Toronto: “I was supposed to meet him, and then I just freaked out and just left.

“I was just too afraid to meet him. You know what they say, ‘don’t meet your heroes because you’re afraid what they might be like’. I’m more afraid of what I might be like with Stevie Wonder.”
