Hollyoaks is rallying fans to help the show hold onto its best soap title at this year’s British Soap Awards.

Last year the Channel 4 soap – previously much overlooked at the national soap awards alongside long-running shows EastEnders, Coronation Street and Emmerdale – won Best Soap for the first time.

And Hollyoaks is keen to remain on top, launching the #DotheH campaign on Twitter to encourage viewers to vote.

And things are already looking good for the 20-year-old show, after it scooped the Best Entertainment and Drama prize at the Prolific North Awards.

Kieron Richardson – who has been doing his best superhero impression in the #DotheH campaign video – was joined by co-star Nikki Sanderson at the glittering ceremony at Lancashire County Cricket Club to collect Hollyoaks’ latest gong.

Hollyoaks beat a string of other shows to the title, including In the Flesh, Darcy Oake Edge Of Reality, Common, Rocket’s Island, Dance Mums and The Nation’s Favourite Motown Song.

The Prolific North Awards were voted for by an industry panel that included presenter Jim Hancock, television host Rob McLoughlin, journalist Sarah Hartley and ITV programme editor Richard Frediani.
