British singer-songwriters Jake Bugg and James Bay will be picking up trophies at this year’s Silver Clef awards.

Jake, 21, from Nottingham, who recently released his second album Shangri La, will be named best male.

James, 24, whose debut album Chaos And The Calm shot to the top of the charts and who has been championed by Taylor Swift and the Rolling Stones, will be crowned best newcomer at the ceremony, which celebrates its 40th anniversary.

Jake said: “It’s an honour to be recognised by the country’s leading music therapy charity and to join an incredible list of artists who have won O2 Silver Clef Awards over the last 40 years.”

James said: “2015 has been such an incredible year for me so far. It is such an honour to be recognised by a charity which is so important to the music industry.

“Nordoff Robbins do incredible work helping to transform lives with music therapy.”

Previously announced winners include Primal Scream, who will receive the musical icon gong, Rita Ora, who will be given the best female trophy, and DJ and producer Mark Ronson who will be presented with the innovation award at the event.

David Bowie, Sir Elton John and Kylie Minogue have all been recognised at the annual event which raises money for the music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins.

The O2 Silver Clef Awards take place on July 3 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London
