The X Factor bosses are apparently hoping things will go a little off plan as the Judges’ Houses round goes live for the first time.
Newcomers Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw are being thrown in at the deep end as they join Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini on the panel for the ITV talent show.
Cameras will follow them to luxurious mansions around the world while they whittle down the Boot Camp survivors to choose their finalists. For the first time ever this high-tension stage of the competition will be broadcast live, and sources told the Radio Times that show bosses are not worried if the unexpected happens.
An insider said: “Viewers don’t mind the odd quirk. In a way, the main live shows are so well produced, people have forgotten they’re live. People will tune into live Judges’ Houses to see if it can be carried off.
“The way we see it, apart from scripted drama, people want live TV as much as possible.”
It has yet to be revealed whether new show hosts Olly Murs and Caroline Flack will anchor the live broadcast from London or if they will be on hand at one of the different locations to interview and console the contestants, along with new Xtra Factor hosts Rochelle Humes and Melvin Odoom.
The details are still being finalised.
But on the night anything could go wrong. If a contestant takes being knocked back the wrong way, things could get heated.
Let’s hope none of the judges are headed for an unexpected dip in the pool…
