Alesha Dixon has revealed being in her 30s has given her a boost of confidence.

The former Mis-Teeq singer and Britain’s Got Talent judge, 36, admitted she has become more self-assured as the years go on.

“In my 30s, I definitely feel sexier, more confident than I ever have before, more so than in my 20s,” she said.

“I think in your 20s, you are on a journey of self discovery, and I’m not saying that that journey ends but I think the older you get, you have more of a sense of style, you know who you are, you know what you like, you know what you don’t like.”

Alesha also revealed how being a mother has reignited her passion for music.

She is preparing to release Do It For Love, her fourth solo album – and her first in five years – while balancing motherhood to one-year-old daughter Azura Sienna, whom she has already written a song for.

“Having a daughter definitely enhances everything,” she said. “I actually wrote a song (titled Azura) for her as well for the record, which is beautiful to do.

“I had my phone in the studio and I had a picture of Azura on the phone, while I was actually vocalling the song and I remember thinking, ‘For me, it didn’t really matter if it made the record or not, it was lovely to be able to write a song for her’.

Alesha has already released one single, The Way We Are, and given previews of the tracks Do It For Love and Azura.

The singer, who sang the national anthem at the Formula One Grand Prix at Silverstone and reprised her role as a judge on the 2015 series of Britain’s Got Talent, has returned with a number of stage performances, and will perform at Manchester Pride.

“It’s great to be back. I feel like I’m back to myself. When I’m on stage, it’s my normality,” she said.

“It’s like riding a bike – you just get on with it. It’s what I do and I’ve been doing so many shows up and down the country and it’s been wonderful.”

Alesha also admitted she needed practice to take a good photograph, as she launched the new Smashbox x HTC Desire 620 Selfie Kit, a limited edition make-up kit to help users look selfie-perfect.

“Selfie kit is this year’s best gift. When I first started to take a selfie, I was absolutely useless. It takes a few goes to get the perfect selfie,” she said.

“What I’ve learnt is you must extend your arm out as much as possible, lift your phone up just slightly above your eyeline, tilt your head at a certain angle and good lighting. In fact, lighting is a girl’s best friend.”
