Jess Glynne has revealed how Sam Smith supported her through her vocal cord surgery, and even passed on his own medical contacts.
In The Lonely Hour star Sam underwent an operation in May so surgeons could repair damage caused by a haemorrhage on his vocal cords. His experience allowed him to advise the Not Letting Go singer when she had her surgery in June.
“Sam Smith has been amazing and supportive, giving me some great advice,” Jess told the Daily Mirror.
“He actually put me in contact with the same doctor that he and Adele saw. We were talking quite a lot throughout and my manager spoke to Adele’s management about the situation and he helped out.”
Jess, whose debut album I Cry When I Laugh will be released on August 21, also wanted to get some advice from Adele, who also went through surgery for her vocal cords.
“I really wanted to speak to her about it, but I never got the chance,” she added.
The 25-year-old singer, who featured on Clean Bandit’s number one single Rather Be, announced in June that she would be cancelling some of her upcoming performances including sets at Glastonbury, Isle of Wight and T In The Park festivals so she can recover from the operation.
She had to remain silent for three weeks so she could recover fully.
“Three weeks of no talking was awful. It felt like forever. I had to carry a white board to write everything down, it was horrible. It makes you feel quite depressed,” she admitted.
“It was bad timing. I was so, so upset. I had to cancel so many shows and just disappear. It was really hard to deal with.”
