Alesso has called Noel Gallagher “stupid” after he criticised Avicii.

The former Oasis frontman told XFM that he couldn’t see why people would want to watch “a dude in a hat and a pair of fake DJ decks” at a festival, and finds large-scale EDM artists “disturbing.”

Avicii, real name Tim Bergling, responded with a post on Instagram, writing: “There are still good bands, still making great music that changes peoples lives, – what is really “sad” is hearing a old time musician like yourself confessing so bluntly and openly to not having an open mind to new music by dissing s*** u havnt even heard , I really didnt think someone whose whole image is being witty would turn all stereotype ‘bitter ol timer rocker’ like that lol.”

Alesso – who was born Alessandro Lindblad – said: “I thought Tim responded pretty well. He (Noel) clearly doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

“There’s a reason why Tim is headlining these kinds of festivals, because it’s what people want and it’s a f***ing incredible show so this guy is just being stupid.”

The 24-year-old Swedish DJ, whose new single Sweet Escape is out now, has played festivals around the world, including Coachella and Lollapalooza in the US.

But he admitted things haven’t always gone according to plan.

“I’m a human being. I can make mistakes on the decks,” he said.

“Not long ago I was in Las Vegas and right before the drums kick in, I cued the wrong player and cued the track that had just played, so it just stopped.

“At first I didn’t know it was my fault. But I just keep going. That’s what people want and I don’t want to focus on what just happened. Just shake it off,” he added.
