Sam Smith’s Writing’s On The Wall is on course to become the first Bond theme song to top the charts on Friday.
The Spectre song has double the combined sales of its closest competitor, Justin Bieber’s What Do You Mean?
None of the previous 23 Bond themes have ever reached the top spot in the UK, although Adele’s Skyfall and Duran Duran’s A View To A Kill have come closest, peaking at number two.
The top five is completed by R City and Adam Levine’s Locked Away, with Sigala’s former number one Easy Love in fourth place and The Weeknd’s Can’t Feel My Face in fifth.
Little Mix, who released new single Love Me Like You on the same day as Sam, have debuted at number 14.
Over in the Official Album Charts, Disclosure look set to stay at number one for a second week with Caracal, which features collaborations with Sam Smith, Gregory Porter and Lorde among others.
David Gilmour’s former number one has slipped to fourth place, with New Order’s Music Complete in second place and Chvrches entering the album charts in third place with new release Every Open Eye.
Jess Glynne’s I Cry When I Laugh rounds off the chart update in the fifth spot.
