Among The X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing, a highlight of the winter TV schedule is I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!

There’s nothing more fun than watching well-known stars such as Joey Essex, Katie Price, Myleene Klass and Fatima Whitbread putting themselves through critter-crazy challenges and gruelling tasks, all in the name of entertainment.

With less than three months before the new series of I’m A Celebrity kicks off, here’s a look at who could follow in Carl Fogarty’s footsteps and be crowned king of the jungle – or bottle out of the challenges like ex-Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan.

Who’s in?

Gemma Collins

The Only Way Is Essex star Gemma has revealed her interest in returning to the jungle, having previously quit the ITV reality show after 72 hours saying she is “not cut out” for it.

The 34-year-old TV personality turned her back on fellow campmates Jimmy Bullard, Craig Charles, Edwina Currie, Melanie Sykes, Tinchy Stryder and Michael Buerk as she walked out of the jungle after three days, blaming her decision to leave on her rocky relationship with then-boyfriend Alex Moss.

Gemma said in May that she would love to return: “One million per cent yes, if I was ever given the opportunity.”

Jake Wood

Having taken part in Strictly Come Dancing and shown off his sneaky snake hips, the EastEnders actor – who is taking a year-long break from the BBC soap after eight years of playing Max Branning – has expressed his keenness to participate in another reality show.

He told Radio Times in August: “I do really like that show. Everyone I’ve spoken to who’s done it has said they really enjoyed it. I’m not squeamish – so eating strange stuff wouldn’t bother me.

“It would be a good holiday for the family as well, wouldn’t it? And the money would be nice. But I think the main appeal is that it’s a different kind of experience.”

Gemma’s The Only Way Is Essex co-star hinted she wouldn’t be able to pass up the opportunity of spending some time in the Australian jungle.

She told Radio Times: “I’d be a nightmare because I’m not very good with creepy crawlies or sleeping outside or doing those challenges but, at the same time, I feel it’s one of those experiences you couldn’t turn down because it’s going to be quite life-changing.”

Dappy Contostavlos

Having been through some court troubles, N-Dubz rapper Dappy has said he would be up for the jungle challenge, following his successful stint on Celebrity Big Brother in 2014, where he came second.

He told Sheffield radio station Hallam FM in July: “I seriously wouldn’t mind going on Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. As long as people take me serious as a musician, that’s all it comes down to.”

The actress has said she would like to swing into the jungle this year, and would even be able to cope with the creepy crawlies.

She told the Daily Star: “I couldn’t do the eating trials but I could do everything else. I’d be fine living in the jungle and I don’t mind all the reptiles and bugs.”

Spencer Matthews

The Made In Chelsea star is rumoured to be in “advanced talks” to enter the jungle, according to the Sun.

A source said: “This deal has been in the offing for a while now as ITV think Spencer will be absolutely perfect for the show.

“He couldn’t do it last year for various reasons, but everything’s fallen into place and he is going to be on the next series.”

Leslie Ash

The Men Behaving Badly, Holby City and Where The Heart Is actress has had a tough time of late, after suffering various health issues.

Following her recent appearance on ITV’s Lorraine to speak about her remarkable 11-year-long recovery, it is thought she would consider taking part in I’m A Celebrity to get her career back on track.

Carl Froch

Former boxer Carl has said he would be up for a challenge in the jungle, after announcing his retirement from the ring in July.

“I would do the jungle. I’d do cooking programmes. I would not do a dance show,” he said.

Who’s out?

Louis Walsh

Having decided to leave The X Factor this year, it was rumoured that the TV judge and music manager could be trying a new direction for his career.

But he denied the stories, telling the Daily Mirror: “I’ve been offered the jungle, but I’m not going to do anything like that. I’m a better manager than I am a TV personality.”

Craig Charles

The former Coronation Street actor had been tipped to return to the jungle alongside last year’s campmate Gemma Collins, after he left due to the death of his brother Dean.

But he said his filming commitments on Red Dwarf are his top priority, telling ITV’s This Morning: “I’m not going in. I’m filming Red Dwarf. We start filming Red Dwarf in November. We don’t finish until March. That’s the time they film the jungle.”

Ed Balls

There had been some hope that former Labour MP Ed could add some political gravitas to this year’s camp, following in the footsteps of Tories Edwina Currie and Nadine Dorries.

But he revealed that he snubbed the offer, saying: “I wrote back to say that I’d already subjected myself to one high-profile public vote this year, and I wasn’t really sure that I wanted a second one.

“At least having to eat bugs and crickets wasn’t part of the election process. I’m not tough enough for that.”
