Oprah has always been generous and this Thanksgiving proved to be no exception.

The day before the US holiday she took 20 of her students from the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa to see Jennifer Hudson in The Color Purple on Broadway.

Oprah’s bestie Gayle King posted a video on Instagram of the star cuddling up to Jennifer and her students for photos after the show.

Orange Is The New Black actress Danielle Brooks can also be spotted in the video as she is starring opposite Jennifer in the show.

After the performance, Oprah, 61, told People: ”Particularly this time of the year, you’re giving some energy and thought to what it means to be in the world and being able to have access to opportunity, which is what has happened with my girls.

Oprah is one of the producers of the play and previously starred in the film adaptation, which was directed by Steven Spielberg and landed her an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress.

She told the magazine: “I think that message of no matter where you’ve been in your life, no matter what kinds of obstacles you had to face and how put down you have felt, the fact that you are still here and you’re still standing – that message resonates with everybody.”

Oprah opened her school in South Africa after a promise she made to former President Nelson Mandela to give students a better future.
