A picture once owned by Sir Elton John was one of the treasures on show on the latest episode of Antiques Roadshow.

The image, which depicted actress Sarah Bernhardt, had been sold off by the Rocketman when he held his huge auction of goods in 1988.

The man who brought the lithograph along told a rather excited Will Farmer how his dad had bought it for his mum as a surprise, for £1,300.

He was thrilled to hear that its value was now around £2,000-3,000.

Other highlights included some Freemasonry paraphernalia, including a clock from the 20s and a bracelet of charms which the owner was told could fetch up to £12,000.

One man turned up with a porcelain tea service from Cunard, which he bashfully admitted had “come home for a visit and never went back” – which met with some laughs on Twitter.

However, the man was told the tea set was probably designed as a souvenir to be taken, and that it would be worth around £400-700 now.

Not everyone was in luck this week though – with one lady taking along a teapot only to be told it was worth about £5.

Adding extra interest in tonight’s instalment was hearing that the episode was filmed at Lyme Park in Cheshire, which is where Colin Firth, as Mr Darcy, emerged from the lake in THAT scene in Pride And Prejudice.
