Holmes hinted at Cruise divorce?

Katie Holmes has seemingly hinted that she longed to escape the shadow of husband Tom Cruise.

The 33-year-old, who filed for divorce from the Hollywood superstar last week, suggested that she wanted to forge her own life with six-year-old daughter Suri in an interview she gave to US Elle before the split.

"He has been Tom Cruise for 30 years... I know who I am and where I am and where I want to go, so I want to focus on that," she said.

Katie - who has starred in Dawson's Creek, Batman Begins and Jack And Jill - also revealed that being Mrs Tom Cruise hadn't helped her in the movie industry.

"Things are not handed to anyone. If anything, you work a little bit harder when you're in such visible circumstances," she explained.

The actress also revealed she prefers being in her 30s: "I definitely feel much more comfortable in my own skin. I feel sexier.

"I think in my twenties - it's like you're trying too hard to figure everything out... I'm starting to come into my own. It's like a new phase," she added.
