Foyle’s War star Honeysuckle Weeks has revealed she has signed her son up to an acting agency as she wants him to follow in her footsteps.

The 35-year-old former child star – who has starred as Samantha Stewart in the period detective drama on ITV since 2002 – wants three-year-old Wade to become an actor as well.

Honeysuckle revealed: “I have signed him up with my ex-agent Sylvia Young’s. He’s on the books. The only trouble is he likes to defy orders. Unlike me. I was always very obedient.”

And the actress sees herself working with Wade one day.

But she added: “Except he’d be embarrassed by me. I’d feel too self conscious because he’d be telling me I was rubbish. I can see it coming.”

Honeysuckle revealed she feels like she has grown up in Foyle’s War, after 12 years playing the same role.

She said: “I was 21 when I filmed the pilot episode and now I’m married and have a child. I’ve grown up with the series.

“When you’ve done a show that has been as successful as this for as long as it has been, it is a joy to return to filming. It’s like a family. Anthony [Horowitz] writes brilliantly for me and I love the character.”

But she revealed she is very rarely recognised by fans of the show.

“I have to have my hair in a croissant shape for people to recognise me,” she said. “Or sometimes if I’m speaking someone will recognise the voice.”
