Blake Lively may be only 27, but the actress has admitted she is an old soul.

The Gossip Girl star – who recently became a mother for the first time – appears in new love story The Age Of Adaline, about a young woman who is miraculously rendered ageless. But her eternal youth becomes a curse when she realises it prevents her from finding love.

Blake – who welcomed daughter James in December with husband Ryan Reynolds – looked stunning on the red carpet at the film’s New York premiere in a scarlet lace gown, with vintage-style waved hair and diamond earrings.

Asked what made her old fashioned at heart, she revealed: “I think it’s because I eat dinner at 4pm and don’t ever leave the house and cook my own food and only listen to music from the 1940s.”

Blake admitted her favourite era in the film was the 1940s.

She said: “I think the 1940s was my favourite decade for fashion, still really glamorous, but elegant, chic, the multi-piece suits – love the 40s.”

Director Lee Toland Krieger said Blake won the role for being a “timeless beauty” and an “old soul”.

He said: “Part of the reason we wanted her to play this part so bad is she really is a timeless beauty. And one of the things that might surprise people to know is she really is an old soul. She’d rather be baking at home on a Friday night, than out partying. She really is a brilliant, sophisticated young woman.”

The Age Of Adaline, which also stars Harrison Ford, opens in cinemas in the UK on May 8, 2015.
