Albert Square has seen its fair share of baddies: from Nick Cotton, to Grant Mitchell, to Sean Slater.

But the one name that still stands out when it comes to the baddest of baddies is Archie Mitchell. Until now, that is.

Because EastEnders’ executive producer, Dominic Treadwell-Collins reckons Albert Square is about to encounter its worst ever baddie.

He’s talking about none other than Gavin Sullivan, played by Paul Nicholas.

Dominic says he thinks Gavin is “the most manipulative and dangerous villain EastEnders has ever had. He makes Archie Mitchell look like a Care bear.”

Paul says: “I wouldn’t say he was the most charming man… “.

Gavin has of course come into one of the most explosive storylines the show has seen this year – the return of Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth).

Kathy is supposed to have been killed in a car accident in South Africa 15 years ago.

So, her shock return will send ripples through the lives of everyone in Albert Square.

Gavin slots into the storyline playing Kathy’s estranged husband, but he clearly has an agenda involving her on his mind…

Another storyline that is going to have viewers on the edge of their seats is the reunion between Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) and Kathy, his mum, who he thinks is dead.

Phil Mitchell is the only one who knows Kathy is alive, and hasn’t told Ian as yet.

Talking about it, Adam says: “I think at some point we’ll have to address that Phil has known for three years. He went to tell Ian in the live episode and didn’t tell him, then didn’t bother telling him again for another seven months. I’m sure there’s going to be a conversation there at some point.”
