After the West End success of War Horse, an adaptation of another Michael Morpurgo story is coming to Carshalton this month.

Metal Monkey Theatre and the Croydon Operatic and Dramatic Association are putting on a production of First World War tale Private Peaceful.

Over the course of a single, tense night in Flanders in 1916, Private Thomas 'Tommo' Peaceful recalls his rural upbringing with his family in Devon and how he and his brother both loved the same woman.

He goes on to recollect the battles and injustices of war until the day when his own brother's life is put at risk. As the play continues, the seconds tick down to dawn, when Tommo's life will change forever.

Star Miles Jovian plays not only Tommo, but all 20 other characters in the production in what promises to be a unique rendition of the tale.
