Felicity Kendal gave a hilarious performance as the preposterously superficial Judith Bliss in Noel Coward's Hay Fever.

It was almost as if the role had been written for her as she excelled in the art of comic delivery, holding together the dysfunctional family.

Coward's script is undoubtedly timeless, having debuted in the West End in 1925, but this modern cast's portrayals provided plenty of laughs throughout.

Warring siblings Simon (Edward Franklin) and Sorel (Alice Orr-Ewing) set the tone for what a chaotic time the Bliss's visitors would have in their company.

The play follows the four Bliss family members, and their servant Clara, as they show that 1920s England was not always the good-mannered haven it has been remembered as.

It is a play of bad manners and rudeness but through the brilliant Kendal, the play is in keeping with Coward's work and has a certain charm about it.
