As the nation counts down the days to a much-needed Easter break, the world’s largest tyre manufacturer is putting the wheels in motion to ensure that the long weekend can begin in style.

Bridgestone is ensuring that motorists will hit the ground running once Good Friday arrives (April 18) courtesy of a driving bundle worth £200, complete with branded travel bags, headphones, tyre safety kit and much more. It is even offering two items which are synonymous with the most British of Bank Holidays…a scarf and umbrella!

The pack, which also features official polo shirts and jackets, should ensure that people’s journeys will run smoothly as their attention shifts from chocolate eggs to an adventure on the roads.

As if this wasn’t enough, Bridgestone has also come up with three simple checks in the hope of reducing the number of illegal road users in the weeks and months to come.

1. Tread depth check With sufficient tread depth, motorists can drive with total confidence, even if the weather takes a turn for the worse. The legal minimum tread depth is 1.6mm and a simple ‘20p test’ can provide peace of mind. Insert a 20p coin into the lowest tread depth of your tyres. If you can’t see the outer rim around the edge of the coin, then your tyre is safe.

2. Check tyre pressures Make that tyres are pumped up and ready for the road. Remember that the correct tyre pressure is different for a fully laden car. Check the inside edge of the car door, fuel tank door or user manual for correct pressure values (front and back). Don’t forget to check tyres in cold conditions for an accurate read.

3. Check for damage or wear Cuts, scuffs, abrasions and other forms of damage can easily get worse over a long journey. If in doubt, check with a specialist before taking the risk.
