Personal Overview - Born in the Tottenham area, he has entered the House of Commons with good political prospects, with many people comparing him and his politics with the Prime Minister Tony Blair (who also has a legal background). Was notable as being the youngest member of the House of Commons on his election (June 2000). Gained the first step of the Governmental ladder with his post election appointment as PPS to Estelle Morris, then moving up to the next level holding posts at the Departments of Health, Constitutional Affairs, Culture, Media & Sport and latterly at Business, Innovation and Skills. Was promoted to become a Minister of State in the October 2008 reshuffle, remaining within the Government until the 2010 election. He was somewhat surprisingly left out of Ed Miliband's initial shadow team reshuffle in October 2010.

Personal Overview - Newly elected in 2004, she replaced the outgoing Labour member Nicky Gavron in this closely contested seat. With a legal background as a barrister, she was involved in establishing a local chambers in Enfield in the early 1990s and has been an adjudicator dealing with disputes between landlords and tenants for the Housing Ombudsman. She has experience of being a local Councillor and has been the Enfield representative on the Local Authority Forum of the London Arts Board. She has also taken an interest in child care issues, a working mother herself , she has chaired Enfield's Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership (the body responsible for nurseries, playgroups etc). She has also shown an interest in issues relating to the environment, planning policing and the North Circular Road. Within the Assembly, she was previously the former London Mayor's (Ken Livingstone) E-Envoy.
