Longest continuous serving soldier in the Territorial Army, Corporal Errol McBean, retires
The longest continuous serving soldier in the Territorial Army (TA) has retired after four decades of service.
Corporal Errol McBean, of Brixton, is retiring following 42 years of service at the detachment of 210 Transport Squadron in King’s Avenue, Clapham.
Cpl McBean remained in the same unit during his whole time in the TA and has been praised for his work by his colleagues.
The soldier works full time as a lorry driver for Codebuild, in Wandsworth, with his driving skills often coming in useful when employed as a reservist.
He said his most memorable experience as a reservist was driving a Fordson Military Ambulance during a trip to Germany in 1975.
The 210 Transport Squadron is part of 151 London Transport Regiment.
