Wheels come off moped thief's Roehampton scam

Police investigating a lock-up linked to a spate of moped thefts were surprised to see a youth arrive on yet another stolen bike.
Concerned residents had informed police they suspected the storage area was being used to hold a number of mopeds, stolen in recent weeks in the Alton Estate area of Roehampton.
But, on October 5, when the Roehampton Safer Neighbourhood Team came to investigate the garage, on Highcliffe Road, a youth pulled up on a bike.
As soon as he spotted the officers he dumped the bike and ran off but after what police described as a "lengthy" chase, the boy was arrested.
The moped he was riding had been stolen a few days earlier, he also had keys to the storage area which contained other stolen mopeds.
The youth was arrested but was released on bail.
