Extra hour in bed as clocks go back

Extra hour in bed as clocks go back Extra hour in bed as clocks go back

The nights are drawing in and temperatures have taken a turn for the worst but one bonus of this time of year is an extra long lie-in.

People across the country can fit a little more relaxing in today as British Summer Time ends and the clocks go back, giving everyone an extra hour in bed.

If you are heading out today, remember to wrap up warm as the weather is predicted to be similar to yesterday with temperatures only expected to rise to around 8C with a few light showers throughout the day.

I would prefer we didn't have to fiddle with all our timepieces twice a year. I spent my "extra" hour doing this tiresome task so no gain just the pain. There are always one or two clocks die as this task is done and hooks in the wall become loose as well as the danger of falling from climbing around to make the adjustments and the effort needed to get all the clocks in the home to resynchronize.

It takes a few minutes to change our alarm clock, two watches, mobile 'phone and central heating timer. The computers and our TV Freesat recorder do it automatically. We really needed that extra hour in bed today!

Why do it. We only have to put them forward again in spring. Stop both, problem solved.
