Mum admits to smothering children to death in Wandsworth home

A mother who suffered from post-natal depression has admitted to smothering her children to death.

Felicia Boots, 35, of Killarney Road, Wandsworth, suffocated her 14-month-old daughter Lily and 10-week-old son Mason at the £1.2m family home.

The jewellery designer, who is originally from Canada, gave a plea of manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility at the Old Bailey this morning.

Murder charges were dropped and she was detained under the mental health act.

The Old Bailey heard her husband Jeffrey Boots, an investment banker, discovered the children's bodies when he returned home from work on May 9.

An inquest at Westminster Coroner's Court in May found the children were suffocated.

It is believed the couple only moved to the UK from Canada in the last few years.

Boots was diagnosed with postnatal depression following the births of both children, but appeared to be getting better before the incident.
